Album artwork research

Image
Lorde- Pure Heroine Album  The contrast of the plain blank background with the large bold white writing on the front cover holds a theme. This album cover is very simplistic but stands out. This album cover symbolises Lorde's music as it is within the indie genre which is well known as dark and grungy. Lorde- Melodrama Album The image on the right is the album cover of Lorde's recent second album. This album cover is a lot more creative compared to her first album cover design. Researching her album I have found Lorde has had a busy few years with a lot of things changing in her life so this cover reflects the drama which has occur in her life recently. This cover also reflects the sort of songs which are included within the album telling her stories of happiness and heart break. Which leads on to the colours, all the colours included within the cover are symbols of different feelings she has gone through within the past few years. Even though this cover does not

First Cut

Image
The video above shows our first cut of the music video, as we were not very happy with this we decided to create a new video with a new idea which i think will improve our media skills more.

story board

All these images show how we want our music video to progress and how we want it to look like at the end. Each image has a drawn photo with an explanation of what shot it will be when we film.

reflection on the filming process

The one thing I have noticed with filming this year is that we were more organised and we found it easier than filming our AS product, I think it is because we knew what we were doing as we already have experienced filming.  I think filming our music video it was a struggle at first trying to find a place to film as we thought filming in town, there was too many people about but once we got it sorted we was on a roll and got it done. New music video Due to myself and Alice starting our music video again from scratch we used a more complex idea to reach our full potential, therefore we did struggle at the beginning due to changing the idea and using a different camera but once we got started it went really well. I think the outcome of this video is going to be better than our first product we had filmed, I think this because we have used a better camera and we have been more creative with the idea we have chosen to do.

song timeline and lyric analysis feedback

Image
This image is the feedback I received once my peer looked into it and explain to strengths and weaknesses to myself and Alice. Looking into these the main weakness I concluded is that there was not enough detail within the analysis to understand what the song was about. A main strength of this analysis was that we analysed it really well and we identified the key themes well as they understood what we was discussing.

Print research- The rule of thirds

Image
The rule of thirds The rule of thirds is a concept in video and film production which the frame is divided into nine imagery sections. This creates reference points which act as a guide for framing the image. Points of interest should occur at 1/3 or 2/3 of the way up (across), rather than the centre.  The rule of thirds is a theory that if you place the points of interest in the intersections, the photo will become more balanced. On the photo on the right, the wasp has been placed in the main intersection of the photo. The line of Sight Some studies have shown that people view a photo leading from the top left down through the primary optical area, down to the terminal area in the bottom right. The primary optical area is an the main focus of the image whereas the terminal area is the last thing a persons eyes views.

Print research- Magazine advert

Image
This magazine advert follows the rule of thirds well. Looking at the layout of the advert we see Lorde's face at the top of the page as this is the first thing our eyes view as we look further down the page at the primary optical area we see her name as that is the main focus, as we go down to the bottom of the page we see the terminal area empty as this is the last thing we notice on the page. In the primary optical area there is a description of her within her name, from that description she is dressed as what it describes her as. She represents her genre of music really well. In this advert she is dressed maturely and at the side of her their is information saying who she landed a record deal at 16, therefore is aiming it at her target audience which is from 16 years of age upwards. This magazine advert of Jessie J follows the rule of thirds too. Looking at the layout of the advert, the first thing we see is her face, moving down towards the primary optical area we
