Applying Goodwin's theory- Video 2 Indie rock

 

So because Catfish and the Bottlemen are associated with the Indie rock genre there a lot of conventions included within the music video.

 

1. There are uses of the performance element with the band playing their instruments.

 

2. There is a clear relationship between the lyrics and the visuals as they sing about them in sound check and it is clear they are doing exactly that.

 

3. There is also a clear relationship between the music and the visuals as they are playing the instruments to create the music behind the video.

 

4. This music video is demonstrating the Indie rock genre characteristics as it is a performance music video and the band are wearing leather jackets and black clothing. The main singer is also positioned in the centre of the frame and they are all playing their instruments close together.

 

5. As well as the video including close ups of the main artist, it also includes close ups of the instruments they are playing which is a genre characteristic of Indie Rock.
