  I thought I would include the rap genre as it is different compared to any pop or indie music video.   1. This music video clearly demonstrates the rap genres characteristics as Eminem himself is wearing casual clothing which is only usually worn in rap videos. There are also uses of direct contact with camera allowing the artist to show his emotions through the way he is acting. Most rap videos show the artist set in rough areas which is wear Eminem is located.   2. Straight away the first line says he is not afraid with him standing on the edge of a high building, here I can notice there is a clear relationship between the lyrics and the visuals .   3. There are also uses of close ups including the artist as this is a way of himself showing the way he is feeling through his facial expressions and the way he moves.   4. There is also a relationship between the music and the visuals as the way he moves is to the beat of the music.  ...

  So because Catfish and the Bottlemen are associated with the Indie rock genre there a lot of conventions included within the music video.   1. There are uses of the performance element with the band playing their instruments.   2. There is a clear relationship between the lyrics and the visuals as they sing about them in sound check and it is clear they are doing exactly that.   3. There is also a clear relationship between the music and the visuals as they are playing the instruments to create the music behind the video.   4. This music video is demonstrating the Indie rock genre characteristics as it is a performance music video and the band are wearing leather jackets and black clothing. The main singer is also positioned in the centre of the frame and they are all playing their instruments close together.   5.   1.Throughout Miley Cyrus 'Malibu' there is a clear relationship between the lyrics and the visuals as she sings about her being on the beach stood by the ocean.   2. When watching the music video I have noticed there are multiple uses of close ups involving Miley the artist.   3. There is also a clear relationship between the music and the visuals as on some shots she is dancing the beat of the music.   4. Miley's music is within the pop genre so with the conventions of a pop music video we expect to see the artist being portrayed as happy it is also conveyed through the use of the setting. The pop genre music videos Also last between 3 to 5 minutes with a constant beat. All of these conventions are included within this music video.

Andrew Goodwin argues that 'music video' is a genre itself and that they often follow six key conventions:   1. A relationship between the lyrics and the visuals.   2. A relationship between the music and the visuals.   3. The music video demonstrates genre characteristics.   4. The music video includes multiple close-ups of the artist.   5. The music video frequently refers to notion of looking. (Particularly voyeuristic treatment of the female body.   6. There is often intertexual references.      

For this years A2 course i have decided to work with Alice, my reason for myself and Alice to group up again is because we have worked together in our previous AS course creating a film. I think we worked so well as a group last year as we both put joint effort into the editing and planned our product very well. I think we both bring something to the team. Alice has all the creative ideas and we have become a lot closer. Whereas myself, i did most of the filming last year and really enjoyed it. We have also discussed the genre of music we would like to use in the product we are going to create. Myself and Alice have good communication between ourselves.

What are you looking forward to and why? I think I am looking forward to filming the music video itself as it is a new thing for me and i think i will learn a lot more skills during the process, i think also using a new program to edit our product is going to be a new adventure and mainly exciting. What are you nervous about doing and why? I think even though i am looking forward to filming our product, i am also nervous as it is a lot different to our AS with relating to the timing as a music video is going to be longer and it is going to take a lot more thinking when it comes to the narrative or performance side of the product. I am also nervous for creating our digipaks and magazine advert as it is something i have never done before.  How do you feel about print media text?
